Still have WAAAY too much left over though. We were steady and made a little cash (just over $150), and now we are getting the rest ready for a monster donation to the local charity-benefit thrift shop and/or freecycle. When I was a kid (granted, this was 25 years ago...) we had a sale where we put up a huge sign saying "everything costs 10 cents" We had barely anything left at the end of the day. Sometimes you go to a garage sale and you can tell that the purpose of the sale is to make money. Other times you can tell that the purpose is to get rid of stuff. Both are fine reasons to have a garage sale, but the latter usually ends up with less stuff at the end of the day. I had lots of great clothing, nice stuff I would have bought, but I think 5 pieces got sold. Because I priced them too high. Even after I marked things down by 50%, people still weren't buying. I wish I had thought to post a no reasonable offer refused sign. I have given it all away via freecycle and am quite happy with it. In the end the stuff is out of our house and is being put to good use. I just wish I could have raised more money for my Breast Cancer walk....but lesson learned.<BR/><BR/>The $5 a bag idea is awesome. I am totally willing to bargain, as reducing the clutter is essential for my family...and for me personally. <B>To move forward, I realize that we have to let go of the past.</B><BR/><BR/>One of the ways I wanted to encourage people to clean me out was to offer the flat rate bag or box rate. For some people, that will be an awesome deal.
